Dear JCI Members, Senators and Alumni, Let me begin by taking this opportunity to wish everyone a wonderful, healthy, wealthy and successful new year to you and your family! It is with a sense of honour and humbleness that I bring you greetings from the desk of the National President of JCI West Indies. The faith and confidence you placed in me is truly appreciated and I thank each of you for entrusting me with this opportunity for 2016. I trust that this year will be an inspiring year for all of us and that we will all work together to realize the true goals and mission of JCI West Indies and JCI. Firstly, I would like to extend congratulations to all elected Local Presidents and their Executive teams for 2016. I wish you all an exceptional year of peace, prosperity and success. Additionally, I would like to welcome you to the 2016 JCI West Indies Leadership Team. I trust that this year we will be Passionate Leaders that ACT to create Positive IMPACT! Thank you for putting yourselves forward and accepting the challenge to LEAD! We look forward to an awesome, successful and productive year for JCI West Indies. Let us JOIN together; BUILD each other and MAKE JCI West Indies a leading organization. Secondly, JCI West Indies, as we all know, is very unique by nature. That is we are islands and country separated by the magnificent Caribbean Sea. Therefore it is a bit more challenging for us to have that personal connection with each other. However, I would like to encourage us to not to let this small matter hinder us from achieving our goals. With the vast movement of technology, the passion and commitment we have for the organization and the determination to work together, we can achieve this. Let us continue to see our organization as one; one JCI West Indies, as the famous Bob Marley song states, “One Love…” I charge you with the task of bringing JCI West Indies closer together; get involved; share ideas, and best practises; offer advice every opportunity you get; and inspire others to do the same. Let us develop that strong bond and show the world who we really are and let us ACT Now! Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success. Henry Ford JCI West Indies, now in its 56th year will continue to build on the foundations laid by our predecessors. JCI West Indies has made significant strides and we will continue to push the organization to the next level. The 2016 BOD is passionate, excited and ready to serve. Embrace us, support us and guide us when needed. Do expect great things, lots of excitement and hard work. One of our missions for this year is to develop a National Youth Project. So do look out for that. As stated previously we are looking forward to a great year for JCI West Indies. Let’s do this. Let’s ACT NOW! Come join us! Finally, lets us reflect on some words from our good Senator, Clovis St. Romain, who charged us to use the ABC of success to be successful. A- Adapt the right Attitude; B – go back to Basics our purpose and C- Continue to work hard, give of your best and make a difference so that when you are done you would have motivated someone to take your place; Continuity. Let us ACT on what we are passionate about, motivate others to act and Inspire someone to be better. Until next time, have a blessed day. President Kwesi Des Vignes, EVP Suzanne Baynes and Assistant Secretary Tahyr Kent made a coutesy visit to Honourable Orville London, Chief Secretary of the THA on behalf of JCI West Indies National President Kevin Hinds on 21st April 2015.
The visit aimed to facilitate discussion on ways JCI Tobago could meaningfully partner with the THA on few of our projects. Mr. London singled out one particular project that he felt can have significant impact on island. Executive Vice President, Alexis Murray, flew over to St Vincent to visit her assigned state in April.
During this visit, JCI St. Vincent took the opportunity to meet with government officials and the media with the aim of furthering its theme for 2015 “Care Connect and Collaborate”. Of course the visit was not only about business, members had the opportunity to socialize with the EVP as she enjoyed St. Vincent hospitality. It was definitely a memorable visit! |
