Environmental Project
The West Indian islands are currently facing a number of environmental problems, from seasonal flooding and threat of coastal erosion in Trinidad and Guyana respectively to littering and illegal dumping in Antigua and Barbados. Tobago and St. Vincent also have issues such as illegal hunting and coastal erosion. Continuing on our regional initiative launched last year, during the first week of June, JCI West Indies Local Organizations will be observing World Environment Day (WED) by executing environmental projects that are relevant to their communities and by extension country.
Given that JCI is celebrating its 100 years anniversary, each local organisation will attempt to impact 100 persons with the project. We shall reach out to our local governments and other NGOs, particularly those with a primary focus on environmental sustainability and plan activities which will promote the cause. Each local organization will collaborate with other organisations; involve the youth, government, businesses, schools, universities and other NGOs. Activities in line with environmental sustainability will continue throughout the year.
